Dr Hussain is working as a Research Assistant at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The main projects include the Seawater Sea-sand Ultra-high-performance concrete as a smart, sustainable material.

Resident Hall Tutor (2022-2025)

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Orange Hall

The duties of a Resident Hall Tutor in student halls include:

Community Building: It includes fostering a sense of community among the residents.
Support and Guidance: It serves as residents' resource and support system.
Policy Enforcement: enforce the rules and regulations of the student halls to maintain a safe and conducive living environment.
Crisis Response: ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in emergencies.
Conflict Resolution: to mediate conflicts or disputes among residents.
Administrative responsibilities, include reporting to warden and Hall administration.

Structural Design Engineer (2014-2015)

Zenith International (ZI) Consulting Firm

Dr. Hussain has worked for more than one and a half years as a structural design engineer at Zenith International Consulting Firm. ZI is a structural engineering consultant providing true technical support to clients with newly born structures and rehabilitation of existing structures.

Projects worked on:

Assessment of Marine Structures (Jetty and Dolphins) at Pakistan Navy Dockyard, Karachi.

As a Junior structural engineer at ZI. The responsibilities include;

A visual survey of existing marine structures.
Meetings with different company officials for testing of materials
Fieldwork includes:
- Mobilization of technical and non-technical teams to perform fieldwork.
- Measurements of the existing structure.
- Meeting with NAVY officials for data collection.
- Concrete strength test on concrete-filled Steel tube piles and dolphin decks.
Calculation of loads according to UFC and BS codes.
Analytical model of Jetty and Dolphin.
Remedial measure for the immediate, moderately delayed and delayed period.
BOQs and cost estimation of all three stages of remedial measures.
Report writing of the project.

Rehabilitation work at Pakistan Navy Welfare Housing Society (PNWHS), Karachi.

Repairing of cracks appears at PNWHS.
Successful application of “CRACK STITCHING” technology.
Site supervision.
Bill of quantities of rehabilitation work.

Vetting Projects, Karachi.

1. Vetting of G+8 Storey ICMAP Building, Gulshan e Iqbal, Karachi.

Vetting of Structural Elements of the building by manual calculations as well as using the software.
For modeling and stability check of structure, use of software ETABS v.9.7, SAFE 8.1.0 and PCA Col.
Structural Drawings and architectural drawings are being checked closely.

2. Vetting of G+4 Storey Hospital Building, Gulshan e Iqbal Karachi.

Vetting of Structural Elements of the building by manual calculations as well as using the software.
For modeling and stability check of structure, use of software ETABS v.9.7, SAFE 8.1.0 and PCA Col
